From the "Daily Telegraph, London" June 19, 2004: From Dawson's Creek to polo at the Guards Club American actress Katie Holmes is certainly doing her best to immerse herself in English culture, with the assistance of Chelsea impresario Ed Taylor. Not only did she put in an appearance at the Serpentine summer party, the actress - who made her name in the angst-ridden teen drama Dawson's Creek - took a day off filming Batman Begins to watch the polo at Guards Club, hosted by TLC Asado Events. "She was very excited to be watching such a quintessentially English game," Taylor, who was organising the day's fun, tells Spy. "She saw great players and then joined me for tea in the afternoon." However, Holmes - a novice to the game - had to ask for fashion advice. "She did, rather sweetly, ask me what the dress code was. So I put on my fashionista hat and suggested something floaty and floral. She fitted in perfectly and looked amazing." But did Holmes get into the swing of things enough to help to step in the divets at half? "Of course she did. It is, after all, an integral part of the day," Taylor adds. |
