The production of 13 Seconds in Kent State, a drama documentary feature film, has expressed an interest in Katie playing the role of Alison Krause, one of the four students who died as a result of the controversial shooting by the Ohio National Guard at Kent State University on May 4, 1970. While it is unknown whether Katie will accept the role, she is the first choice of both the writer, Lance Nielsen, and production company. The male lead, playing the part of lawyer Joseph Kelner, has been confirmed as a prominent actor although he has yet to be named. The film will focus on the civil trial that followed the fatal shootings and the events of May 4th will be replayed in flashback. The following summary has been released: 'With the war in Iraq far from over, this film concerning the rights of citizens to protest about such polices will be more relevant than ever. The events of the civil trial, far less publicised that the events of May 4th, will be given the full treatment they deserve.' Filming is not scheduled to begin until 2005. |
