HSX has confirmed what we pretty much knew already - that the release date for The Singing Detective has moved to October 17th (limited) from October 24th. The Globe and Mail thinks the fall movie lineup looks promising. Here's a lil write-up they did on TSD: The Singing Detective: Dir. Keith Gordon. Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Mel Gibson. The movie, which played at Sundance already, will probably disappoint devotees of Dennis Potter's original television series, but Downey's performance is excellent. He stars as novelist Dan Dark, hospitalized with a painful and disfiguring case of psoriasis, as he drifts in and out of delirium and pop songs, and reworks his published detective novel in his mind. An unrecognizable Gibson plays his psychiatrist.
