Thanks to Imsuchanerd and Mandy for this Katie Holmes, the oh-so-cute star of 'Dawson's Creek,' chatted with members about her role in the upcoming movie 'Abandon' and much more. See what she had to say below! LIVEJessicaMae: Katie! I'm so excited that you've arrived! How are you this evening? Katie Holmes: I'm great! How are you? LIVEJessicaMae: I'm wonderful! Very excited to have you here! Let's start with a question from CMO1187: Question: Do you like prefer shooting movies or ‘Dawson's Creek’? You’re my favorite actress! Katie Holmes: Well, thank you so much for that, for the compliment. The two mediums are very different. What I like about the television schedule is that it is very stable. It's usually a 12-hour day, and it's fast paced. And I can pace myself very easily, because I have been doing that for so long. Movies are a bit different -- very much slower paced. You can have a 12-hour day or a 16-hour day or longer, and everything takes a longer amount of time. You can shoot one scene for two days, or you can shoot seven scenes in two days on the show. You can put more time and thought into scenes on a movie -- it's not so instinctual. For that reason, I think I prefer the film pace. LIVEJessicaMae: Here's a popular question. Ladybug123319716 asks: Question: If you weren't acting, what would you be doing? Katie Holmes: I would probably would be doing what everyone else would be doing, just earned my college education, and looking for a job. LIVEJessicaMae: Distorted x Eyes has another movie question: Question: Out of the last few movies you've filmed -- ‘Abandon,’ ‘Phone Booth,’ ‘Pieces of April’ and ‘The Singing Detective’ -- which one did you enjoy filming the most? Katie Holmes: Well, I think I had the most fun on ‘Abandon,’ because it was such a great feeling doing something that [we] worked so hard to make happen, to accomplish. A lot of preparation was put into the role, so the payoff was very great. LIVEJessicaMae: CateW115 wants to talk about your new movie, 'Abandon.' She asks: Question: What is the theme of the movie? Katie Holmes: People aren't always what they seem. Watch who you fall in love with. You should be true to yourself. And passion can bring the most beautiful moments to your life, as well as the most tragic. LIVEJessicaMae: For those of you just joining us, we are chatting with Katie Holmes, star of 'Abandon'! Here's a hard question: Question: What is your biggest fear? Katie Holmes: My biggest fear is living with being content with my life. I think it's better to try something and fall flat on your face than to not try something. So, essentially, settling. LIVEJessicaMae: QBee27 asks: Question: Are there any similarities between Joey Potter and your character, Catherine Burke, from 'Abandon'? Katie Holmes: Well, yes, I think Catherine is an extreme version of Joey. They're both very driven, but Katie takes it a step further. Joey has an easier time dealing with her angst than Katie. And I think Katie is a bit deeper then Joey, a bit crazier and a bit more heartbroken. LIVEJessicaMae: Luckyclover24 has a great question: Question: Katie, how did your schedule with the movie clash with your schedule on ‘Dawson’s Creek’? Katie Holmes: It actually worked out perfectly. We were done filming Season 3 in April 2001, and I started ‘Abandon’ mid-April 2001. LIVEJessicaMae: Not bad! Urmom1987 wants to know: Question: If you could be any type of character you want in a movie, what type of person would you be? Katie Holmes: Um... I think I would have to be a heroine in some way, and I would like to be a funny, flashy character. LIVEJessicaMae: Here's one from Sweetie 89: Question: What kind of movie is 'Abandon'? And how do you suggest young people to get a career started in actressing? Katie Holmes: Well, ‘Abandon’ is a psychological thriller set on a college campus. It's a very creepy movie, suspenseful, and also very poetic. In terms of starting into acting, I would say if you are under 18, finish high school, take acting classes, get involved in school plays or musicals. And if you are very serious about it, after you have done those things, save up your money and pick a coast. LIVEJessicaMae: Great advice! Katie knows her stuff. ;) Mesoci is a huge fan: Question: Hey, Katie. I think you're are a GREAT actress, and you have this kind of maturity and wit that is almost unbelievable for someone of your age. You probably don't know, but when will ‘Abandon’ be released in Europe, especially Germany? Katie Holmes: I'm going to guess the late winter or early spring of 2003. LIVEJessicaMae: Poor Germany! You have to wait! :( More movie questions. Here's one from Kell54: Question: Hey, Katie, are you satisfied with the final product of ‘Abandon’? What'd your folks think? Katie Holmes: I'm very excited with the final product of ‘Abandon.’ I thought that Steve, the director, did a great job. I believe it to be scary, creepy, poetic, beautiful, and my parents loved it. LIVEJessicaMae: Wow! I'm excited! Volleyballgirl3a wants the hottie scoop: Question: What was Charlie Hunnam like when you all were making 'Abandon'? Katie Holmes: Charlie was hardworking, intelligent, very talented and adorable in the movie. Question: Will you be doing any other movies in the near future? Katie Holmes: Yes. LIVEJessicaMae: That one's from CloolessQT. :) Katie Holmes: I have ‘The Singing Detective,’ ‘Pieces of April’ and ‘Phone Booth.’ LIVEJessicaMae: Jennie1324 asks: Question: Hi, Katie, I am such a huge fan of yours! I was wondering, what you do on your days off? Thanks! Katie Holmes: LOL. I go to movies, I talk on the phone. I read books. And I do yoga. I have the release date for Europe... it's early 2003, but I still have a TBA. LIVEJessicaMae: Thanks, Katie! (She's on the ball!) Samipanda asks: Question: Is there anyone you would really like to work with in the future? Katie Holmes: I would love to work with Goldie Hawn, Renee Zellweger, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, Cate Blanchett. That's about all the time we have. I wish that we could have gotten to more questions. LIVEJessicaMae: Is there anything that you'd like to say to all of your fans? Katie Holmes: Thank you so much for all of your support. I hope you like the movie. LIVEJessicaMae: Great! Thanks, everyone! Don't forget to go see 'Abandon' this Friday, Oct. 18, 2002. You can also get your Katie fix Wednesday nights at 8PM ET by watching 'Dawson's Creek.’ Talk to you next time!
