From ET Online Sorry..clip of Katie is in sucky Windows Media Julia's 'Wicked' Screen Test August 21, 2001 Back in 1998, the plucky 'Save the Last Dance' star auditioned for a little-seen film called 'Wicked' and won the coveted lead role. It was her breakthrough performance in this film, which screened at the Sundance Film Festival, that led to '10 Things I Hate About You' -- and stardom! Ironically, some stiff competition, KATIE HOLMES, RACHAEL LEIGH COOK and 'Roswell''s MAJANDRA DELFINO, all lost out to Julia for the part. A twisted, tongue-in-cheek, Lolita-like tale of lust and murder, 'Wicked' won Julia the Best Actress award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Directed by MICHAEL STEINBERG ('The Waterdance,' 'Bodies, Rest & Motion'), the story follows a dysfunctional suburban family and how they cope after their mother is mysteriously murdered. The oldest daughter literally takes her place, dressing in her clothes and seducing her father, while a quirky detective investigates the crime and finds many suspects -- each with something to hide. Previously seen only at film festivals, 'Wicked' will finally be available for all to see on video and DVD on August 28. |
