From: USA Today Queen Latifah talks Katie! … Next month, Latifah starts shooting the heist caper Mad Money opposite Katie Holmes. The two play Federal Reserve employees who plan to steal cash that's about to be destroyed. Latifah recently met Mrs. Tom Cruise and says the actress seems "really sweet. I've known Tom for a while, and she, I just met. She seems excited to do it. It's a fun little role. That character is so rad and a little rocker. She has this crazy, not-so-smart boyfriend who loves her to death." Saturday’s Mudbugs game to offer ‘Mad Money’ casting call Fans at Saturday’s Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs game can apply to work as paid movie extras in “Mad Money.” The movie will star Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton and is tentatively scheduled to begin shooting in Shreveport on April 19. BAM Casting will set up a table in the CenturyTel Center’s concourse between 6 and 10 p.m. Only persons who buy tickets to the game can apply for “Mad Money” at the game. Casting directors are seeking persons of all ethnicities who are at least 18 years old. The movie will offer extras rolls for persons looking like casino workers, bank tellers, airline workers, forklift drivers, mafia-style criminals, FBI agents, police and blues band members. They also need persons to work as stand-ins for the stars. If possible, applicants should bring a photo of themselves no larger than 4 by 6 inches. Casting directors will photograph the applicants who don’t provide photos. There is no cost to apply. Mudbugs management is expecting a crowd of roughly 7,000 for the game against the Oklahoma City Blazers. Thanks smith for writing the following report on “Mad Money”! * Minor Spoilers “I have a subscription to www.showfax.com (a site that offers excerpts from scripts of upcoming movies) for casting. So I downloaded some scenes from Mad Money as they are currently casting the male leads. In total I read circa thirty pages, enough to give me some ideas about the movie. Bridget (Keaton carachter) is a middle class lady, who is forced to come back to work as an employer, because her businessman husband goes totally bankrupt. Liz (Latifah) is a working mother of two little children, with no husband. Jackie (Holmes) is an employer at the federal reserve with a lovely husband (or living in fiance) unemployed. All these 3 women struggles with money, in a society money obsessed. So, the money they have to destroy for their jobs at the Federal Reserve become an irresistible temptation. From the pages I read I can say that all the characters are very sympathetic in their journey, they are underdogs, even the male characters and you can’t help to root for them. The mood reminded me of other english comedies, like Calendar Girl, Saving Grace or Full Monty and also some old italian movie like I soliti Ignoti, a comedy that has had an american remake produced by Clooney-Soderbegh, Welcome to Colinwood. Of course it’s impossible to say what kind of movie will be, good or bad, I hope well. For Katie is a come back to atmospere like Pieces of April or Go. Most of all, I like that she plays an underdog carachter, anchored in reality, in this.” |
