Queen Latifah is Making Mad Money Queen Latifah is in talks to join Diane Keaton in Mad Money, a remake of the British comedy Hot Money, according to Production Weekly. The British telepic was based on the true story of three cleaners who were determined to get more money from the British Treasury than their night shift afforded them, but the new version will be transported to contemporary America. In the crime caper, three working-class women conspire to rob their employer. The film is narrated by Keaton's character Bridget. Callie Khouri is directing for MGM. Production is scheduled to begin late March in Shreveport, Louisiana. =============== Latifah makes ‘Mad Money’ Queen Latifah is in negotiations to join Diane Keaton in the cast of “Mad Money,” a remake of the British comedy “Hot Money” and is described as a low-tech, female version of “Ocean’s Eleven.” The British telepic was based on the true story of three cleaners who were determined to get more money from the British Treasury than their night shift afforded them, but the new version will be transported to contemporary America. Callie Khouri, who won an Academy Award for the screenplay of “Thelma & Louise,” is directing the feature and is completing a polish of the original script from Glenn Gers. Production is scheduled to begin late March in Shreveport, Louisiana. It is narrated through the eyes of Keaton’s character Bridget, who’s used to the finer things but suddenly finds herself forced back into the work force after her husband’s losses his job. With the prospect of losing her house and drowning in debt, she gets a job on the night cleaning crew at a Federal Reserve bank and figures out a creative way to get money, and lots of it. Latifah plays Liz, one of the other janitors on the crew. Katie Holmes' character recast for Batman sequel According to Latino Review – and they do seem to have some solid contacts at Warner Bros; remember who scooped the web on Brandon Routh playing Superman? – Katie Holmes will not be back in “The Dark Knight”, despite the fact that her character, Rachel Dawes, will appear in the film. I assume Holmes has opted not to reprise the role – or the producers have opted to save money and recast another actress – because the part she’ll play in the sequel is super-small. I’m talking ten-minutes or less. She’ll still be a pivotal part in the movie, but, well, let’s just say that it doesn’t much matter who plays her. It’ll only really affect the film’s accountant… who’ll probably have a few bucks left on the table because he hasn’t hired Holmes. I liked Holmes in "Batman Begins", I thought she fit the bill. I think It'll be a minor injury to the film having a different actress play the part. Pity. So yep, they’re looking for another young brunette to play Dawes in the film... ============= Holmes' Spokeswoman on The Dark Knight A spokeswoman for Katie Holmes has given The Wall Street Journal a comment on why she won't be returning as Rachel Dawes in the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight. "We never got to the negotiating stage" for the film, said Julie Polkes, Holmes' representative. "Katie was offered ["Dark Knight"] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts. She was in the process of negotiating for another project. Instead, Holmes will star in "Mad Money" with Queen Latifah which starts shooting in a couple of months with a budget of only $12 million.
