Thanks carpediem! From: GMA Tom & Katie’s first kiss as husband and wife!
TOM's Top Gun SERENADE For Tom Cruise, words weren't enough to express his feelings for Katie Holmes. He had to do it in song -- and a familiar one at that. When, L.A. deejay Mark Ronson played the Righteous Brothers tune "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" during the reception for the couple's wedding, Cruise couldn't help himself: He grabbed the microphone and serenaded his bride. "She was completely touched -- laughing, loving him and enjoying him," guest Leah Remini tells PEOPLE. Cruise's impromptu serenade, of course, hearkens back to his performance of the same song in Top Gun. In the movie his character, Maverick, attempted to woo Kelly McGillis with the song. As for Katie, her heart already belongs to Tom. WWD Exclusive: Giorgio Armani Dishes on TomKat Wedding Designs While the fans, paparazzi and TV crews outside Castello Odescalchi on Lake Bracciano, near Rome, tried Mission Impossible-worthy numbers to catch a glimpse of the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wedding, inside the castle fairytale festivities were underway. Surrounded by 150 guests between family and friends, Cruise and Holmes tied the knot in front of a Scientology minister as the sun set behind the castle’s stone turrets. A radiant Holmes donned an off-the-shoulder silk gown designed by Giorgio Armani. The ivory dress with a train featured a crinoline frill around the shoulders and was adorned in Valenciennes lace and Swarovski beaded crystal embroidery. An ivory tulle floor length veil completed the look. “Katie wanted a simple, elegant dress that was rich in material with a slim silhouette. I couldn’t have been in more agreement,” Giorgio Armani told WWD exclusively. “I wanted to make it modern but at the same time, compliment that sweetness and energy she conveys.” Cruise wore a navy blue two-button satin peak lapel handmade tuxedo with flat front trousers and matching four-button vest. The ivory silk French collar shirt matched Holmes’ wedding dress. While Armani met Cruise in 1989 when the actor was in Milan after the filming of Rain Man, he was introduced to Holmes last year. “She was in Milan and we met to discuss the possibility of my designing her dress. We clicked immediately,” said Armani. “Several fittings followed but the last few were in Los Angeles overseen by my niece Roberta and a team from my Giorgio Armani Privé and Giorgio Armani Hand Made to Measure ateliers.” In 2005, Tom Cruise was on location in Rome filming Mission Impossible 3 when he asked Giorgio Armani to design his wedding attire. Shortly after Holmes came to Milan to meet the designer and plan the wedding in Italy. For the wedding reception, Holmes slipped into an asymmetric champagne Giorgio Armani Privé evening dress of silk organza decorated in Swarovski crystal beads. The groom wore a two-button navy blue suit also made by Armani. Their fingers sparkle with white gold and diamond Cartier wedding bands.
Mr. and Mrs. TomKat: Inside their fairy-tale wedding •Children. The couple's daughter, Suri, 7 months, and Cruise's children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, Isabella, 13, and Connor, 11, were present. Us Weekly reports that Connor carried Suri down the aisle. •Reception. The couple's five-tiered white-chocolate wedding cake was decorated with marzipan roses.
Newlyweds Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have jetted into the Maldives for their honeymoon after what was one of the most lavish celebrity weddings of recent years. And a special edition of HELLO! magazine, packed with photos and details of Saturday's nuptials, will be one of the first international magazines to hit the newsstands when it comes out on Tuesday morning. The Italian town of Bracciano, where the loved-up couple made their vows, is meanwhile getting back to normal, though details of what took place inside the majestic Odescalchi Castle are still emerging. Fashion guru Giorgio Armani, who designed the outfits for both bride and groom, has revealed Tom was equally as flamboyant in his display of affection on the day as he was while the couple were courting. When he and his pretty love were declared man and wife, "it was a never-ending kiss," said the Italian designer. "It lasted so long it caused guests to shout 'stop, stop!'." The ceremony, which took place in a former stable decorated with masses of white flowers, began with the Mission Impossible star walking down a stone ramp lined with flag-bearers wearing medieval costume. Katie, who was carrying a bouquet of calla lilies, was then escorted to the altar by her father Martin. And later on, when the couple cut their five-tiered white wedding cake, thousands of rose petals cascaded down on them from above. Representatives for the pair have revealed they actually had a civil wedding in Los Angeles last week. There will have been little doubt in the minds of the romantic couple, or any of their A-list guests, that Saturday's Scientology ceremony was the one which sealed their relationship, however. |
