Stars escape world to Fiji ~ February 20, 2006 STARS Tom Cruise and seven-month pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes escaped to Fiji last week amid rumours of their break-up. The Hollywood lovebirds flew in Mr Cruise's Gulf Stream jet and stayed for three days before flying out at the weekend. It is believed the Top Gun fighter pilot, 43, took his expectant fiancee, 27, to Wakaya, an exclusive resort in Lomaiviti. Airports Fiji Limited chief executive Ratu Sakiusa Tuisolia said he was not aware of the celebrities' arrival. Mr Tuisolia said most celebrities who arrived in their private jet came in discreetly without the knowledge of the public. But a source at the airport said Mr Cruise and his fiancee flew out at 12pm on Saturday bound for Sydney before heading for Europe. Mr Cruise did not hesitate when approached to pose for a photograph at the airport. Fiji Islands Hotels and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto said the arrival of celebrities in the country helped the promotion and marketing of Fiji overseas. Mr Seeto said though he was not aware of Mr Cruise's escape to Fiji, he was confident it would bring a lot of publicity to the resort as well as the destination. "If most of those who follow the news of the celebrities closely know that he was in the country, they would love to come here," he said. "Most of the high profile movie stars do not make their itinerary public but if it is known, it draws attention to the resort and the destination." The lovers remain engaged and are proceeding with wedding plans. Spokesman Paul Bloch said they were moving ahead with wedding plans and said the rumour that all was not well behind closed doors was not true. He said the couple was looking forward to a long and happy life together as a family. Mr Cruise and Ms Holmes started dating in April last year. He proposed in June. From: People.com BABY WALK
