From: Toledo Blade Klein says Cruise had no part in his breakup with Holmes Tom Cruise wasn't the reason for his breakup with Katie Holmes, says Holmes' ex-fiance, Chris Klein. "Her being with Tom has nothing to do with her and I discontinuing our relationship," Klein said in a recent interview on Access Hollywood. "People move forward, people move on, it's what we do," the 26-year-old-actor said. Klein and Holmes called off their engagement earlier this year after dating for five years. Cruise, 43, and Holmes, 26, went public with their relationship in April. They became engaged in June, and she is now pregnant. "For me, what we had was very, very special, and I hope that she's making decisions that are making her happy and that she doesn't have people in her life leading her astray from what she wants and what she believes," replied Klein when asked about Holmes becoming involved in Cruise's faith of Scientology. Chris Klein is not shying away from talking about former fiancee Katie Holmes' affair with Tom Cruise. "I wish them luck. What Katie and I had was something very special. I hope that's what they have," said Klein during his interview for his comedy Just Friends which opens Nov. 23. Klein, 26, and Holmes, 26, dated for almost five years before getting engaged in 2003. They ended their relationship in March of this year. She dated Josh Hartnett briefly before beginning her very public affair with Cruise, 43, in April. Cruise and Holmes announced their engagement in June and confirmed her pregnancy last month. Cruise has hinted they plan to be married before the end of the year. Both Klein and Holmes were raised Catholic. Holmes has announced she is embracing Scientology. "I hope that Katie is making all her own decisions in this relationship and I hope she is happy with the decisions she has made," said Klein adding "I hope she is not letting other people make important life decisions for her." Klein is adamant that Cruise had nothing to do with his split with Holmes. "There was no third party involved with our breakup. We simply grew up. It was as simple as we were no longer lighting each other's fire." He says for him relationships are "all about respect for each other. You go into a relationship knowing it's catch as catch can and that it won't necessarily be forever. You run with it as long as you can." He is proud that "in the eight years I've been an actor in Hollywood, I have never got it on with one of my co-stars. "My acting coach told me I could fall in love with a co-star, but I should never have sex with them. "Katie and I didn't meet on a film." Since his breakup with Holmes, Klein has not been linked with anyone. He admits he's in a quandry. "It's difficult to date girls not in the business because they don't understand the pressures and schedules. That's bound to be disastrous to a relationship. "On the other hand, it's hard to find quality in a woman in this town." From: E!
