Mansion: Impossible

The more Ohio matrons I mingle with, the more I'm convinced that I, too, should have a
second home in this state. My gawd, these girls can goss. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes,
you kids better make sure your walls are soundproof!

So, here's the latest. "The house is going to be put in someone else's name," whispered one
of my Ottawa Hills sass-pots. Hmmm. Guess one of those Dawson's Creekers could alway
step in--who even remembers their damn names?

Eh, me neither.

But back to Toledo we go. "The house was to have closed last week," 'splained my spy, "but
there was a lot of commotion, so they delayed the close to a few weeks from now." Yes,
house hunting always seems to cause headaches. Especially when the abode is so stunning
that the sight of it throws these Ohio housewives into a House & Garden tizzy. I'm told that
it's old. It's beautiful.

There's more: This just in from yet another one of my house-hunting sniff-a-roos! There's a
Los Angeles family named Schmidt that just nabbed the $1.5 million job everybody thought
TomKat would get. The new owners claim not to know either Tom or Katie and are
supposedly buying the house for biz purposes. In Toledo?

I say somethin's up. If not with this house, then one in the near future. Katie's clan is too
important to her to not have an abode nearby for marshmallow roasts and kiddie B-day pah-
tays.

Oh, by the way, I'm hearing the wedding dress is close to being finished. By Armani. No call
back from Tom and Katie's reppers. Maybe that's because I told them I had heard from
Andrew Morton, the Princess Di reporter from England who does poop-and-all bios on
celebrities.

He's doing one on Tom--haven't you heard?

'Tis true.

Tom & Katie Duet at Scientology Bash

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may be expectant parents, but that doesn't yet translate to quiet nights
home, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue.

During a weekend charity dinner at Scientology’s English headquarters, St. Hill Manor in East Grinstead,
"they were very sweet – holding hands and looking very cuddly," says one guest. "They looked like they
were having a laugh."

At one point during the $350-a-plate dinner, singer Isaac Hayes, a fellow Scientologist, called Cruise, 43,
and Holmes, 26, to the stage, where they belted out rock standards with the band. On their song list?
"Mustang Sally" and "Old Time Rock and Roll," which Cruise famously sang in his underwear in 1983's
Risky Business.

"They were laughing and smiling and talking to the crowd," said one of the 3,000 guests. "The crowd
started dancing."

Earlier at the event, Cruise accepted an award for service to Scientology to thunderous applause. The actor
left with Holmes shortly after the festivities.

Last month the engaged couple announced they were expecting their first child together. "Tom and Katie
are very excited, and the entire family is very excited," Cruise's spokeswoman, Lee Anne DeVette, told
PEOPLE.

DeVette said at the time that no wedding date has been set and would not comment on how far along the
pregnancy is. But she did say that Holmes "has never felt better."

Inside with Lynda Carter

And for "Wonder Woman" fans who can't make it to see Lynda strut her stuff on stage, they can check out
all three seasons of the hit TV show on DVD. What's more, there's even a 'Wonder Woman' movie in the
works, with KATIE HOLMES among the starlets being mentioned to play the hot heroine.

"She's got that real sweetness to her," Lynda says about the possibility of the future Mrs. TOM CRUISE
inheriting the role. "I think it's a good idea. I think, whoever it is, needs to be that young, so I think she
would probably be a good choice."

Cruise and Holmes share Manilow passion

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes share the same musical tastes despite a 17-year age gap - they've been to
three Barry Manilow concerts since they began dating in April.

Pregnant Holmes admits they both love the ageing crooner, and insists the Could It Be Magic hitmaker
pushes all their buttons.

She says, "He is one of our favourite stars."
