Tom and Katie Make Wedding Plans!

Tom arrived in usual Cruise fashion when "Extra's" Jon Kelley met up with the star on the set of "Mission:
Impossible 3." The star showed up down and dirty, after taking a beating on what he called the most
intense shoot of his career.

Tom Cruise: I'd rather hit than get hit, personally. But for the movie, I'll take the hit. I want the audience
to look at this movie, and I want them to go, "How'd they do it?" And just know we did it.

Jon Kelley: Okay, you're six months into this relationship with Katie [Holmes]. How are you planning the
wedding right now and making the movie?

TC: We're just dreaming about it and figuring out all the fun things. I never knew there were so many
wedding magazines and stuff. Did you know this? That's the ladies' deal. I'm telling you, there are stacks
of different kinds of magazines.

JK: So are you getting into it too?

TC: Yeah, it's going to be really beautiful. Kate is an artist in and out. She can create the most beautiful
floral arrangements. I didn't know people did this either -- she makes her own cards.

Tom and Katie's happy ending is a union Cruise predicted back in April when "Extra" showed him the
Seventeen magazine article in which Holmes said she'd always dreamt of marrying the superstar.

JK: It still cracks me up, when you said you didn't want to let Katie down. That's like something out of a
movie.

TC: Listen, I knew I was going to marry her the moment I met her. You know how you know something,
and as time goes on it validates your original perception and instinct? That's the way it is with her.

Caustic Cojocaru

Steven Cojocaru raised eyebrows at the Toronto Film Festival fundraiser when he referred to Tom
Cruise’s sweetie with an expletive.

The fashion correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" was the host of Variety
magazine’s Ten Producers to Watch party at Flow Restaurant on Sunday night. Clips from the featured
films were being shown and when Katie Holmes’s image appeared — she stars in the flick “Thank
You For Not Smoking” — the oft-caustic Cojocaru muttered, “That Scientology [bleep].”
(Rhymes with “rich.”)

Cojocaru later backpedaled. “I was only joking,” he said, according to the Toronto Globe and
Mail. “I don’t know anything about them.”

When asked if he worries about Scientology’s influence on Hollywood, Cojocaru reportedly rolled his eyes

and replied, “Honey, I worry about a lot of things. I worry that there’s going to be a dead Maltese cat in
my bed when I get back to my room.”

Orlando, air and other treats of Toronto film fest

BY RICHARD ROEPER SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST

"Thank You For Smoking" is a gloriously un-PC satire starring Aaron Eckhart as a shameless lobbyist for
Big Tobacco. Based on Christopher Buckley's wickedly funny novel, the film does a brilliant job of
skewering lobbyists, Hollywood execs and journalists.

But you just know some special-interest groups are going to misinterpret it as a celebration of the very
things it mocks. I can see the press release now, claiming the film glorifies smoking, laughs at gun
violence and jokes about alcoholism. You watch, it'll happen.

There is one joke that might end up on the cutting room floor before the movie gets a commercial
release. The actress formerly known as Katie Holmes plays an ambitious, scruples-free reporter for a
major Washington paper. After she gets her comeuppance, the reporter is fired and winds up working for
a local television station. We see a shot of her in hurricane gear, nearly getting blown off her feet as she
wails, "They're calling this the storm of the century!"

For 90 minutes, the theater had been rocking with laughter -- but this visual gag, though well-executed,
was met with silence. Katrina has pretty much killed off the hurricane-humor industry, at least for a
while.
