Big thanks to Scarlet for posting this news from The Hollywood Reporter on the Message Board.

Duvall, Holmes are match for indie 'Smoking'
By Borys Kit

Robert Duvall and Katie Holmes have joined Aaron Eckhart in the cast of "Thank You for Smoking." Jason Reitman is directing the indie satire, which is being produced by David O. Sacks' Room 9 Entertainment and ContentFilm.

The comedy follows the machinations of Big Tobacco's chief spokesman, Nick Naylor (Eckhart), who spins on behalf of the embattled tobacco industry while trying to remain a role model for his 12-year-old son.
Duvall plays the role of the Captain, the last great Southern baron of Big Tobacco, who employs Naylor to improve the industry's image with bold new PR and media strategies. Holmes will play Heather Holloway, a smart, seductive reporter for the Washington Post who knows how to make Naylor reveal his professional secrets.

Production is scheduled to begin shooting early next year.

Duvall last appeared in "Secondhand Lions" and will next appear opposite Will Ferrell in "Kicking & Screaming." He is repped by manager Rob Carliner.

Holmes' film credits include "Go," "Wonder Boys" and "Pieces of April." She will next be seen in "Batman Begins." Holmes is repped by CAA and John Carrabino of Carrabino Management.
